Topic: NO UNCERTAINTY IN CHRIST
Bible Reading: Hebrews 11:9, 13
📖9….”By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:…
📖13….These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.”
🔥Except a believer dies to every other influence outside the faith, while still existing, he sees uncertainties around him. Abraham, like Jesus, learnt obedience by the things they went through and suffered – Hebrews 5:8. That is what the life of faith is all about. It is a life lived by virtue of what one is told about another person’s life. That is, believing in what someone says God did for people in time past. As one picks such story, he is very uncertain, but with a conviction to arrive at certainty. Hence, in our text from Hebrews 11:9, 13, both Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob and many more, were said to have died believing what they hadn’t seen certainly.
🔥🔥When God asked Abraham to go and sacrifice his laughter (Isaac) on an undisclosed mountain in Gen 22:1-2, because of what he had learnt from the first call in Genesis 12, he obeyed because he had come to know that when man sees a hole in the doughnut, God sees the edible surroundings. He had come to trust God that every action of his, produces better results. Observe that before God called him from Mesopotamia, he had his own life plans but he abandoned them and followed a faceless and nameless voice to an unknown place. The call into faith has no respect for the comfort of the called. When the call comes, you must walk away from your certainty into God’s uncertainty, which is more certain than certainty with the world.
🔥🔥🔥The way into God’s certainty is uncertainty. In Hebrews 11:8, the Bible says Abraham accepted God’s call without knowing where he was going. No wonder Apostle Paul says in Rom 8:24 that hope that is seen or known is no hope. Abraham moved from the urban city of the Ur of Chaldees to the bush of Canaan when he was called. He burnt the bridges he passed through, so he wouldn’t return. Dearly beloved, to be certain in the fearful life of uncertainty in the faith, you must burn your bridges – Luke 9:62. This is because, even though God’s calls may have no guarantees for now – Matthew 6:34, yet they also have no disappointments for those that obey them.
🙏My Father, my father, help me to have a certain faith in you, as I have in a tin of milk that I can open and drink in the dark without checking the contents with light in Jesus’ name..
🙏🙏Blessed Redeemer, as I, the clay, is at your beck and call, call me to, and use me for whatever assignment that will bring me to your certainty, in Jesus’ name.
🙏🙏🙏Ever faithful father, I renounce every attraction in my past and foundation, that can draw me back from my certain faith in you, in Jesus’ name.
