Topic: DESIRE GOD’S GLORY 1

Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 4:17-22

📖17….”And the messenger answered and said, Israel is fled before the Philistines, and there hath been also a great slaughter among the people, and thy two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God is taken.
📖19….And his daughter in law, Phinehas’ wife, was with child, near to be delivered: and when she heard the tidings that the ark of God was taken, and that her father in law and her husband were dead, she bowed herself and travailed; for her pains came upon her.
📖22….And she said, The glory is departed from Israel: for the ark of God is taken.”

Message:

🔥In the Old Testament, the Ark of God depicted the presence of God amongst the people. God asked Moses in Exodus 36:1-4 & 37:1, to make the Ark of God through Bezaleel and Aholiab because Moses requested for God’s presence to go with them in Exodus 33:15-17. So, each time the Jews went for a battle and they carried the Ark of God along, victory was certain; until that day that it was taken from them by the Philistines in 1 Samuel 4:10-17.

🔥🔥So many believers today wonder why it seems like God did more miracles in the Old Testament. The reason is found in how the then people of God valued God’s presence with them. Taking a good look at our quoted Bible reading from 1 Samuel 4:17-22, it is crystal that the people of old, valued God’s presence more than they even valued their children. Eli at 98, valued God’s presence, hence he reacted with death, when the Ark was captured. He wouldn’t have died if the Ark wasn’t captured, though his two sons died in the battle. Same with the wife of Phinehas, who neither valued her slain husband nor newly born son as much as the Ark. Hence both died since they refused to live without God’s glory and presence.

🔥🔥🔥The question now is, do believers value the abiding presence of God with them today as much as they value the material blessings they go to God for? If we need the miracles of God today as much as God wrought in the Old Testament, then we must also request the presence of God to always go with us. His presence today is His glory which encompasses those that worship God in spirit and in truth. Insist on his glory, and He will cover you with His Halo.

SOULS ACTIVITIES:

🙏Merciful Father, retain your presence with me, so I don’t have any reason to live in fear, in Jesus’ name.

🙏🙏O Lord, change my appetite for coming to you from material things, to a desire to be enclosed in your glory and presence, in Jesus’ name.

🙏🙏🙏Dearest Redeemer, use your glory as a rainbow of promise in my sky, to stop the threats of spiritual thunder from me, in Jesus’ name.
