Topic: DON’T ASK FOR YOUR LUSTS FROM GOD

Bible Reading: Psalms 106:14-15

📖14….”But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.
📖15….And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.”

Message:

🔥The spiritual believer is one who is able to distinguish between his wants and his needs. The wants are the insatiable desires of man such as luxurious cars, expensive houses, shoes, unnecessary foreign trips, and so on. They are often lusted after. While the needs are the necessities that a man needs for his survival, such as food, shelter, clothes and good health. Anytime God is constrained to grant the incessant demand for wants by a believer, the result is always detrimental. So, the only way you can put together a budget that will help you to meet your financial goals, is by going only after your needs.

🔥🔥When Jesus told believers to ask, seek and knock in Matthew 7:7, he wasn’t telling them to ask for wants or what they lust after, but needs, necessities. Have you imagined why God said in Psalms 106:15 that, when he gave them their request; it sent leanness into their soul? The reason is because they asked after their lusts and wants, according to verse 14; not what they needed. The asking which meets God’s standard, is that which will draw the believer in need, to God, if granted him. Whatever we ask of from God, should make us to delight ourselves more in worshipping and serving God.

🔥🔥🔥The opening statement of Psalm 23 is that, if I have accepted the leadership of the Lord, then I cannot be worried over my wants because he will supply all my needs…Philippians 4:19. Before Balak came to hire Balaam, Balaam had no need that wasn’t met by God, but Balak created wants such as promotion for Balaam in Num 22:17, which led him to a violent and shameful death in Num 31:8. Some people may argue that God permitted Balaam to go. God allowed him because he lusted after Balak’s promises of wealth, hence he asked for God’s permission the second time. God speaks once, but let us hear him continuously in us (Psalm 62:11), else, we will be led to sorrow.

SOULS ACTIVITIES:

🙏Heavenly Father, guide by tongue and heart to always ask for what will make me to delight in you, in Jesus’ name.

🙏🙏Precious Redeemer, grant not unto me, whenever my asking is a demonstration of lusting after worldliness, in Jesus’ name.

🙏🙏🙏O Lord, deliver me from moneybags like Balak, who want to create lust after vanity in me, in Jesus’ name.
